2011 anniversary of the execution of members of the First Committee of the Catalan FIJL


Who remembers that 68 years ago were executed at the end of March 1943 most members of the first regional committee of the Iberian Federation of Libertarian Youth (FIJL) in Catalonia?
The first committee was headed by Joaquim FIJL Pallarès and Thomas, born in 1923 in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, short (only 20) but intense life.
all started on March 8, 1943 with the arrest of a dozen members of the group. Two weeks later, on day 24, was one of those grotesque summary trials in which defendants were already sentenced to death before the start of the session.
Day 29 were executed garrote in the Modelo prison in Barcelona, \u200b\u200bnine group members: Pallarès Joaquim Tomás, Francisco Álvarez Rodríguez, Fernando Ruiz Fernandez, Benedict sauté Martí, Joan Aguilà Mompart, Barnabas Depaz Argüelles, Agustín Atares Francisco José Sierra López and Pedro Tressols Meix.
Two days after three companions went to the gallows: José García Navarro, Vicenç Martínez and Joan Fuster Pelfort Thomas. Only
lifesaving five members of the group: Vicente Iglesias, José Urrea, Manuel García, Rafael Olalde and Hilary Fondevilla.
